Isopropyl Alcohol, also known as isopropanol, is a highly volatile and colorless liquid with a musty odor at room temperature.
What Is 70% Isopropyl Alcohol Used For?
It is used in the manufacture of a wide variety of industrial and household chemicals, and is a common ingredient in chemicals such as antiseptics, disinfectants, and detergents. It dissolves a wide range of non-polar compounds. It also evaporates quickly, leaves nearly zero oil traces, compared to ethanol, and is relatively non-toxic, compared to alternative solvents.
Isopropyl alcohol is a polar solvent similar to ethanol that can be used to extract crude herbal oil from plants.
Isopropyl alcohol is also found in many everyday products such as paint thinners, inks, general-purpose cleaners, disinfectants and as a windshield thawing agent.
